On 1 January 2023, changes to the carriage of dangerous goods by road (ADR) will come into force. The key change is the requirement to appoint a dangerous goods safety advisor. Until now, this obligation has been imposed on companies involved in loading, unloading, filling tanks, and packaging as well as carriers transporting dangerous goods. The obligation to appoint an advisor (until 31 December 2022 and effective from 1 January) is imposed on companies involved in the shipment of dangerous goods, including those listed as shippers on a dangerous goods transport document or a waste transfer note (dangerous*, subject to ADR regulations).
